Spring on Hilton Head provides good Sea Bass and Sheepshead fishing, but the fish are about 15 miles offshore. So I need a bit more time to put you on the fish. A 4 hour trip just isn't enough unless we're just entertaining small kids.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

When charter fishing on Hilton Head the most common trips are 4 to 6 hours. For the average family looking to have fun, a 4 or 5 hour trip is plenty. However, depending on the type of fish you may want to catch, a longer trip will be necessary.

On the GULLAH GAL and TRUE GRITS we typically fish within 15 miles of shore depending on the length of your trip. We see lots of Dolphin playing, Osprey flying, and Sea Turtles swimming too.

Hilton Head's waters are usually very calm and boaters rarely get even a splash. Even if seas are rough (over 3 feet) we'll either stay close to shore or reschedule your trip for another day.

The "GULLAH" Name

The Gullah people are African Americans who live in the Low Country of South Carolina and Georgia and whose ancestors were originally brought to America as slaves. The name "Gullah" is believed to be a derivation of the word "Angola" the country in Africa from which many slaves were taken. Angolans were know for their farming skills. The Gullah culture is still strong on Hilton Head and the surrounding barrier islands today.
